Sometimes the bizarre isn't all about negative connotations. Sometimes the bizarre and the "wtf" is actually a nod to how glorious everything can be, and surreal, if you will it to be that way. That is exactly what we have uncovered when we came across this piece of news! The researchers at the Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Science, have come up with a study to make gaming easy for blind gamers. If that doesn't speak volumes of how egalitarian science is we don't know what is!

Brian A. Smith from Columbia has developed a racing auditory display (RAD) for gamers who are visually impaired to play similar games that people with sight can play, without any changes in the experience. The audio based interface can be integrated into any racing game, basically allows any player to listen to the happenings through simple headphones. The RAD comprises two techniques -a sound slider for understanding the speed and trajectory of the car on the racetrack, and a turn indicator that alerts players of upcoming turns and actual ones. Both of these techniques help players with impaired vision understand the texture of the game as it is happening in a dynamic way.

Like we said, this is one of the most promising ways in which technology can be used to bridge the gap of many-a-discrepancies humans have with one another!
