In the ever increasing web of technological insecurities one is rendered with in today's world, using elements of tech for the greater good still shocks us a little bit. So when we heard that augmented reality is being looked at as a helping tool for surgeons in the operating theatre, we were quite curious!

You heard it right. According to procedures carried out by a team at Imperial College London at St. Mary's Hospital surgeons can use augmented reality to improve outcomes in reconstructive surgeries. All the surgeons have to do is use Microsoft's HoloLens headsets while the surgery is ongoing. The HoloLens is a self-contained enables the user to experience mixed reality and communicate with holograms. This was used further to overlay images of CT scans to see through the limb while the surgery is going on!! And this in turn helped the doctors locate and reconnect key blood vessels which are beneficial for the patients.

Now that we understand the process behind this complicated idea, we feel quite happy that alternate forms of present reality are actually hidden with superpowers that affect our daily lives in such powerful ways!
