She Owns an Interior designer firm- ‘The Orange Lane’. Shabnam naturally followed with retail in the form of ‘Peacock Life’ a Lifestyle home store. This interior designer-furniture-and-lifestyle store-owner is very practical when it comes to space management as well.

Interior Designing, for her, is a personal style statement. She has been voted leading ladies of 2004 by LA India, shortlisted as 10 young innovators in design and architecture by CW in 2009. Listed as 10 best designers to watch out for by Forbes India in 2010, won the IIID Award in the residential multi dwelling in 2011 and listed as IGEN top 50 designers of India by Architects and Interiors India. She has been covered by several international magazines also.
About The Room

Before the makeover, Avantika’s room was extremely cluttered; there was no storage space for books and clothes. The room neither had a wardrobe nor an efficient study table. The high windows did not allow the light to enter the room and the green walls only added to the dullness of the room.

The makeover started with lowering the windows that facilitated enough flow of light into the room, thus making it look spacious and lively. A bay window seating was created, such that Avantika could read and hang out with her friends. The understated wooden flooring made the room look lavish and the green-blue color scheme; changed the entire energy of the space. Also, the stencil art on the walls, was done, keeping in mind , Avantika’s love for nature.

The details on the soft furnishings added to the throw of color and integrated every little corner of the room. The bed could double up and accommodate all of Avantika’s friends during sleepovers. The grill is an asset of the room, it contained glass raindrops which Avantika could lit up, with diyas in Diwali. The most desirable feature of the room was the open wardrobe. Also, the chest, lamps and the shelf made the room look artistic.

In this episode, ‘A Whole New World’ went a step further and did up the bathroom too. A nice round basin… and a toobi faucet with a green spout liner ,matched up to the bathroom color and made it look cool.
